PREPS PARTNERS WITH MPE

PREPS PARTNER Mississippi Professional Educators (MPE) is providing FREE training and CEUS through virtual training sessions for PREPS teachers and administrators. Participants will receive .6 CEU credits for completing each course. Each session’s content is timely for educators during the 2020-2021 school year. All participants must have a device with sufficient internet connection, camera, and audio capabilities. ESSENTIAL TOOLS FOR THE VIRTUAL TOOLBOX: This session will provide participants with web-based tools to create meaningful learning experiences for students in remote situations. Participants in this interactive and engaging virtual workshop will get hands-on experience using the essentials for every teacher’s toolbox. The websites, apps, and Chrome extensions (Flipgrid, Seesaw, Book Creator, Wakelet, etc.) that will be explored are effective learning tools that promote the C’s in traditional, blended, or completely remote learning environments. For optimal workshop experience, participants should use a device bigger than a tablet. ▪ September 29, October 1, 6, 2020 Zoom Meeting Time: 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. RECENT CHALLENGES TO THE SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL/MENTAL HEALTH OF STUDENTS/EDUCATORS AND CHALLENGES YET TO COME:This session will provide foundational understanding and research of the importance of meeting the needs of the whole child as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the emotional issues that might affect our students and learn how to address critical emotional and mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and grief. The session will provide general considerations for schools in meeting CDC guidelines as it relates to social/emotional screening. Teachers will also receive an overview on the stigma, racism, and social justice issues that might adversely impact social/emotional functioning of our students, families, and educators. ▪ October 12, 13, 14, 2020 Zoom Meeting Time: 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
