Registration now open for PREPS/MAPE 2018 Conference

The Program of Research and Evaluation of Public Schools (PREPS) and the Mississippi Association of Partners in Education (MAPE) have opened registration for the 2018 Conference, which will be held Feb. 25-27, 2018, at the Hilton in Ridgeland. Registration can be completed online or with mail-in forms located on the PREPS website at www.mspreps.org.

Weston Kieschnick, author of “Bold School,” will be the keynote speaker. His message is “Old School Wisdom + New Technology = Blended Learning.” His presentation will motivate teachers, administrators, and community members.

The conference also will feature Executive Chef Nick Wallace, who will share his story of growing up in rural Mississippi and achieving his goals. Through his role as chef and culinary curator for the Mississippi Museum of Art, Wallace partners with school districts as an outreach to teach students about farm-to-table concepts while sharing his culinary talents. In October 2017, Wallace won Food Network’s “Chopped: Alton’s Challenge” and was named Best Chef in America.

The conference sessions will feature topics such as science, technology, math, and community partnerships. Student teachers and their university sponsors are encouraged to attend with reduced rates. Superintendents, principals, and school leaders are invited to showcase their school districts for these prospective teachers at a breakfast which will be held in the penthouse at the Hilton on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 27.

The PREPS Value-Added Awards will be presented at a luncheon on Monday, Feb. 26, and MAPE Governor’s awards will be presented at a luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Sponsors and vendor applications can be found online. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
