Get STEMulated with MPB Resources Presenter: Maggie Stevenson

Mississippi Public Broadcasting provides valuable tools for teachers and administrators. From classroom materials to professional development programs, MPB aims to enhance the work of Mississippi educators. Learn about MPB's instructional resources and professional development opportunities for PreK-12 educators and other outreach initiatives aimed at students, parents, and community leaders. MPB Education provides programs, services and support to educators, students and parents in Mississippi that are vital to the educational mission set forth by the legislature. It is the hope of MPB Education that all children will enter school with the foundation needed for academic and social success. Through its resources, educators have opportunities to receive high-quality, online professional development to promote technology in PreK, K-12 and adult education classrooms. In addition, MPB's collaborative efforts with schools and communities have proven to promote and support high-quality programs and services for children and their families.

Maggie Stevenson is deputy executive director for education for MPB, where she oversees implementation of MPB’s statewide education initiatives, including early childhood, dropout prevention, college and career readiness, professional development for educators, outreach events, and much more. A native of Mobile, Alabama, she is an up-and-coming leader in the fields of public media and education. With over 15 years of experience in media and education, Stevenson’s professional experience encompasses educating and empowering children, youth, and adults, along with developing and creating instructional media for PreK-adult education. Her focal areas have been literacy, technology integration, and community development. Her involvement in education and media is not only to entertain but also to educate and inspire individuals to maximize and achieve their greatest potential in life. She often quotes Colin Wilson, a prolific English writer, who stated, “The mind has exactly the same power as the hands, not merely to grasp the world but to change it.” The daughter of an avid retired teacher, Stevenson is a gifted speaker and educator with a passion to effect great change in her community and the world. Stevenson earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and her master’s degree from the University of South Alabama.
